Digital Impressions
Digital impressions allow your dentist to capture a virtual map of your teeth, without the hassle of the uncomfortable and messy goopy impressions of the past. With the iTero scanner, we can capture high-resolution images of your mouth using a handheld wand. The wand scans all areas of the mouth, while the images are simultaneously captured on a computer screen. The detailed photos make up the 3D model of your mouth. Your impressions can be forwarded to other parties if necessary. Digital impressions are an accurate, comfortable, interactive, and fast way to take impressions of your mouth, improving the quality of dental care you receive.
Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays are one of the most important new advances in our office, enabling dentists to see decay inside teeth that would not be visible to the naked eye. This allows for earlier intervention against cavities. Although film x-rays cost less than digital x-rays, the increased exposure to film x-rays is more harmful to a patient’s overall health. Our digital x-ray emits as much as 85% less radiation than traditional x-ray technology. We are not only able to reduce your exposure to radiation, but also increase the diagnostic proficiency. Furthermore, we reduce the amount of harmful chemicals and other waste materials associated with traditional x-ray technology which feeds our desire to be environmentally responsible.
Intraoral Camera Technology
Sometimes patients find it difficult to understand the condition of their teeth the way their dentist does. One way we improve patients’ dental experience is through the use of an intraoral camera in our diagnosis. An intraoral camera is a small, pen-like device with a camera on the end. The camera contains a bright LED which helps us diagnose cavities or fractures that are difficult to see with the naked eye. The camera is connected to a monitor which allows you to see up close what your dentist is seeing. This dramatically improves your dental experience by helping you understand why your dentist may be recommending a certain treatment. This provides patients with an easier and more effective experience. They get to see up close the state of their teeth, including problems such as cracked teeth, decay, worn-out or defective fillings, bleeding gums, and tartar.
Oral Cancer with Vizilite
Oral Cancer screening with Vizilite is a quick, painless, and highly effective oral cancer screening tool used to help identify and evaluate abnormalities in the mouth, including precancerous cells, cancer, and suspicious oral lesions, which may be difficult to see with the naked eye during a regular exam. The test takes only a few minutes and involves the administering of a special rinse to the mouth that causes the nuclei of abnormal precancerous or cancerous cells to appear to glow when subjected to the ViziLite technology (a fluorescent light). ViziLite is highly effective at detecting oral cancer in its very earliest stages before it has had the opportunity to spread to other tissues.
Ultrasonics
Ultrasonics are instruments that use sonic energy to clean debris, remove posts, and perform apicoectomies. These instruments have smaller tips that allow your dentist to complete microsurgery with greater precision, giving patients better results. Just as “ultraviolet” means electromagnetic waves that are beyond the range of human vision, “ultrasonic” means sound waves that have a frequency too high for us to hear. Our ultrasonic tools vibrate at these high frequencies, which makes them highly effective at performing critical tasks in the confined spaces inside and around a tooth.
